Block Therapy Classes
Block Therapy 8-Week Series
Unwind adhesions • Restore alignment • Reawaken full-body vitality
LOCATION:
Yoga and Massage (YAM)
This relaxing, low impact 8-week series is designed to systematically unwind fascial adhesions throughout the entire body, relax the nervous system, and create space for the cells in the body to take in nutrition and detox more efficiently. Beginning with the core and ribs—the foundation of our breathing and the anchor for healthy alignment. Starting here helps you access deeper releases in the pelvis, legs, upper body, and psoas as the series progresses.
For Weeks 5 through 8, it is recommended (but not required) to have a block to support deeper layers of work. The block allows for greater precision, penetration, and structural change, especially in areas like the pelvis, feet, psoas, and back. However, you can absolutely continue using a towel throughout the series, and all movements will be demonstrated with both options so every student can participate comfortably. Blocks can be purchased through the instructor with a $40 discount for YAM students. Purchase comes with a video starter program so students can continue their practice at home. Contact Renata to purchase at anytime before or during the series. 828 398 8010
Class Schedule
Week 1 — Core & Ribs
January 3, 2026
Breath, Organ Space & Posture Reset
In this class, we release dense, frozen fascia in the core, diaphragm, and rib cage—areas that commonly hold chronic tension from stress, shallow breathing, and years of collapsed posture. When we breathe unconsciously from the chest and neglect the diaphragm, the rib cage compresses downward into the core. This collapse restricts the function of the liver, pancreas, stomach, heart, lungs, vagus nerve, and the aorta, reducing circulation and contributing to acid reflux, sluggish digestion, fatigue, anxiety, and chronic mid-back pain.
Week 2 — Pelvis & Legs
January 10, 2026
Rooting, Stability & Lower-Body Freedom
This class focuses on grounding and proper standing alignment—the foundation for the entire body. Chronic adhesions around the pelvis, hips, glutes, hamstrings, IT band, hip flexors, adductors, and quadriceps often lead to low back pain, SI joint irritation, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, and poor balance.
Week 3 — Head, Neck & Arms
January 17, 2026
Neck Freedom & Upper-Body Unwinding
In this class, we explore how the tongue is the foundation of the head and neck—a powerful yet overlooked muscle that influences posture, airway space, TMJ function, swallowing, and cervical alignment.
Frozen fascia in the scalene muscles, sternocleidomastoid, traps, rotator cuff, forearms, and inter-shoulder blade area often leads to neck stiffness, headaches, migraines, jaw tension, numbness or tingling down the arms, and limited shoulder mobility.
We will decompress the neck, shoulders, and arms, allowing oxygenated blood and nutrients to return to these long-tightened tissues. Expect relief, lightness, clearer thinking, and a sense of “untangling” in the upper body.
Week 4 — Psoas & Side Body
January 24, 2026
Emotional Center, Deep Core & Lateral Expansion
In this class we focus on releasing the psoas, the only muscle that connects the upper and lower body. When restricted by adhesions—from repetitive movements, sitting, stress, or dominant-side habits—the psoas can contribute to low back pain, hip tightness, digestive issues, anxiety, poor posture, and limited gait.
Expect a deep emotional and physical release, improved posture, and a renewed connection between upper and lower body movement.
Week 5— Core and Ribs 2
January 31, 2026
We revisit the core and rib cage to work into deeper layers of fascia now accessible after the initial release in Week 1. We refine conscious diaphragmatic breathing and open the spaces around the intercostals, diaphragm, abdominal wall, and thoracic spine.
Chronic adhesions in this region can compress the lungs, heart, stomach, spleen, vagus nerve, and digestive organs, contributing to symptoms like shallow breathing, heartburn, anxiety, mid-back pain, poor posture, and low energy
Week 6 — Pelvis, Legs & Feet
February 7, 2026
Rooting, Gait Reset & Structural Stability
This week expands on the pelvis and leg work by addressing the feet, which are often the root cause of chronic tension throughout the entire body. Adhesions in the feet disrupt natural mechanics and can create a chain reaction of issues such as:
• plantar fasciitis
• collapsed arches
• knee pain
• hip misalignment
• SI joint irritation
• tight hamstrings
• lower-back pain
• fatigue from inefficient walking patterns
We melt fascial congestion in the arches, ankles, calves, hamstrings, hip flexors, adductors, IT band, and glutes, restoring elasticity and communication through the lower body.
Week 7 — Hands, Arms & Full Back
February 14, 2026
Hand Release, Arm Release & Back-Body Rehydration
This week expands the arm work to include the entire back, creating an upper-body reset. We work through adhesions in the arms, hands, upper back, mid-back, and shoulder girdle, as well as the fascial chains linking the skull down through the thoracic spine.
Common issues addressed in this class include:
• chronic neck stiffness
• “tech neck” posture
• headaches and migraines
• nerve compression in the arms and hands
• tension between the shoulder blades
• restricted rib movement
• mid-back pain from collapsed posture
We release dense fascia surrounding the traps, scalenes, rhomboids, rotator cuff, lats, erector spinae, and thoracic fascia, restoring space for the upper ribs, and lungs to function properly.
Week 8 — Psoas & Side Body II
February 21, 2026
Deep Core Release, Emotional Unwinding & Lateral Expansion
Our final week returns to the psoas and side body—now with the whole body more open, allowing for deeper release and integration. The psoas, the only muscle connecting the upper and lower body, influences posture, balance, organ support, and emotional tension.
The class focuses on melting adhesions around the:
• psoas and iliacus
• diaphragm and deep core
• obliques and QL
• lats and side ribs
• fascia surrounding the liver, kidneys, and adrenals
Restrictions here can contribute to low-back tension, hip tightness, digestive issues, anxiety, fatigue, and limited breathing capacity.
